Peña's Auto Electric, Smog & Repair at 303 Taft Hwy, Suite B does smog checks on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday, so Saturday morning is the weekend window for a smog check on the south side of Bakersfield.
Key takeaways
- Saturday hours are 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
- Arrive early in the morning.
- Sunday is closed.
Saturday hours
We are open Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Saturday smog check works well if you work weekdays or need to finish your registration before a deadline.
Getting in and out
Standard smog checks are walk-in friendly, and the test itself takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Arriving near 8:00 AM gives you the shortest wait. Bring your vehicle and your DMV renewal notice.
What if your car fails on Saturday
We can start the diagnosis the same day. Some repairs need parts or a drive cycle, so you may return on a weekday. If your registration deadline is close, tell us when you arrive.
Sunday
We are closed on Sunday, and we do not offer Sunday smog checks. If you need a Sunday test, check other stations' hours, and plan the rest of your week around ours.
Directions
We are on Taft Highway at S Union Ave in 93307, convenient from Greenfield, Lamont, Arvin, Weedpatch and Panama Lane. Use our directions link on the contact page.
Planning a Saturday morning visit
Saturday is a short day, 8 AM to 1 PM, so the morning matters. Arrive in the first hour if you can. Bring your renewal notice, a form of payment and the car's registration. If the car needs a repair after the test, we can begin the diagnosis the same morning. Parts and drive cycles sometimes mean returning on a weekday, so allow flexibility if the registration deadline is close.
Who benefits most from weekend hours
Drivers who work Monday to Friday, shift workers and families with one car often cannot spend a weekday morning at a shop. A Saturday slot removes that obstacle. Drivers from Lamont, Arvin and Weedpatch also combine the trip with shopping in town. If your schedule is tight, call during the week to confirm the car is a fit before you drive over on Saturday.
